DEACON LENNETT W. ANDERSON

Deacon Lennett Anderson was born in Halifax, on February 10, 1934 to the late Edolphus and Florence (Brown) Anderson.  He has four brothers and two sisters.  He was predeceased by an older brother.  Deacon Anderson attended the local school within the community of Upper Hammonds Plains, where he continues to reside today.  September 10, 1960, Deacon Anderson married Valmah, of Upper Hammonds Plains.  They have two sons - Dean and Lennett Jr..

In 1944, Deacon Anderson accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour. Stemming from this experience, he was baptized and received into the membership of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Throughout the years, Deacon Anderson has been a very active member within his community.  In 1960, Deacon Anderson was ordained a Deacon at Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he served as a President of the Men's Brotherhood, Chairman of the Finance Committee, Chairman of the Deacon Board, Chairman of the Trustee Board, Foreman for the Church Renovations, and Sunday School Superintendent.  In 1987, Deacon Anderson had the honour of serving as the Provincial President of the Laymen's Council of the A.U.B.A..

Past positions Deacon Anderson held in community organizations includes :  President of the Community Development Association, a Trustee of the Melvin Land Tract Protection Society, and a member of the Upper Hammonds Plains Volunteer Fire Department.  In recognition of 20 years contribution to the Upper Hammonds Plains Volunteer Fire Department, Deacon Anderson was awarded a Service Medal and the Halifax County Municipality Volunteer Recognition Award.

Deacon Anderson's former employers include Haverstock Brothers (of Hammonds Plains), Hubley Sand and Gravel, and Atlantic Concrete.  As well, for a period of several years, Deacon Anderson was self-employed.

In 1990, Deacon Anderson was received into the membership of Cobequid Road United Baptist Church, Lower Sackville, N.S.  While an active member within this fellowship, Deacon Anderson served as Chairman of the Trustee Board, and a member of the following :  Deacon's Board, Finance Board, Brotherhood, and Pastoral Search Committee.

Presently, Deacon Anderson is reunited with his home church - Emmanuel Baptist.  He continues to serve faithfully - providing spiritual leadership and oversight to the local congregations.  While appreciating how God is able to use him in these areas of service, Deacon Anderson finds great delight in being used of God to bless and encourage others through a Telephone Prayer Ministry.

In closing, Deacon Anderson shares that he finds motivation to do God's work knowing :
