Subject : Habit
I am your constant companion.
I am your greatest helper or your heaviest burden.
I will push you onward or drag you down to failure.
I am completely at your command.
Half the things you do, you might just as well turn over to me,
And I will be able to do them quickly and correctly.
I am easily managed; you must merely be firm with me.
Show me exactly how you want something done,
And after a few lessons I will do it automatically.
I am the servant of all great men.
And, alas, of all failures as well.
Those who are great, I have made great.
Those who are failures, I have made failures.
I am not a machine, though I work with all the precision of a machine.
Plus, the intelligence of a man.
You may run me for profit, or run me for ruin;
It makes no difference to me.
Take me, train me, be firm with me
And I will put the world at your feet.
Be easy with me, and I will destroy you.
Who am I?
I am HABIT!

Subject : Turning Dreams Into Goals
"Start your goal setting process by creating a list of dreams.
Force yourself to write down one hundred things before you go
back and hone your list. List places you want to visit,
experiences you want to have and toys youd like to own.
List things youd like to accomplish, skills youd like to
acquire and the amount of money youd like to make.
Detail the type of house youd like to own, the business or
career youd like to create and the lifestyle youd like your
family to enjoy.
From this wonderful list pick the ten most exciting things and
add deadlines.
Next, go back and set intermediate or halfway goals for each.
Finally, list short-term goals that will contribute to the
accomplishment of the intermediate goals and ultimately the
long-term goals.
There is no limit to the number of goals that you set, just
make sure you list only those that you are truly committed to
attaining."
Turning Dreams Into Goals was excerpted from Andrew Wood's "The
Millionaires Library."

Subject : Little Hits
"Where many people go wrong in trying to reach their goals is
in constantly looking for the big hit, the home run, the magic
answer that suddenly transforms their dreams into reality. The
problem is that the big hit never comes without a great deal
of little hits first. Success in most things comes not from
some gigantic stroke of fate, but from simple, incremental
progress."

Subject : Be Who You Are
"Persons of high self-esteem are not driven to make themselves

steadily building."

Subject : Blame
"All blame is a waste of time. No matter how much fault you
find with another, and regardless of how much you blame him,
it will not change you. The only thing blame does is to keep
the focus off you when you are looking for external reasons
to explain your unhappiness or frustration. You may succeed
in making another feel guilty about something by blaming him,
but you won't succeed in changing whatever it is about you
that is making you unhappy."

Subject : Commit The Time
"Commit to spending at least 3 hours a week on personal
development. Read or listen to at least one book per month
in a related area. You need to schedule time in your day
planner as if you are meeting with your most important
client. Schedule this time away from the office, if
possible, to avoid distractions. Draw up a plan or list
of the investments you plan to make over the next 3-6
months. Then stick with it! Hold yourself accountable
for buying, reading, listening to, or watching the
materials you have chosen. You are committed to excellence
and excited by the return you know your investment will
provide in the form of opportunity, promotion, and income."

Subject : Take Three Specific Actions
I have made it a life-long habit to do at least three things
every day [no matter how small each is] that move me forward.
These are listed in the top right hand corner of my day planner.
On this list are a group of simple actions or goals for the day
that when completed will move me closer to my quest.
It might be sending out a thank-you letter, thereby building a
relationship. It might be making a phone call to a specific
client either to sell something or to develop rapport. It might
be to design an ad, write two pages of a new book, or call the
library to get information. The tasks change every day; the only
thing that does not change is my resolve to accomplish at least
three of them each and every day. Every one of them is positive.
Every one of them makes me feel good for having done it and it
will make you feel good as well. Every one of them can be done
in a relatively short amount of time. That means every week I
cross at least 21 items off a to-do list. Now you know why Im
always in such a good mood! I even cross them off with a red
pen, its a power color, and a powerful feeling. And, if for
any reason I do not get these three items done, and those days
are rare indeed, then the ones I did not complete get added on
to the next days total.
Winston Churchill once said, There are plenty of good ideas
if only they can be backed with the power of action. Although
goals and strategies are very important, the greatest plans in
the world wont amount to a hill of beans without action.
Virgil understood this many centuries ago when he said, Fortune
favors the bold.
No matter where you stand in your business, career or life [and
no matter what challenges you now face] when you make the
conscious decision to become a person of action [rather than
being indecisive] you instantly turn the tide of life in your
favor. Often, if you are mentally ready for action, opportunities
will present themselves in the most unusual ways, and you will
find yourself involved in new and interesting endeavors. Action
has a way of increasing opportunity, while procrastination and
inaction always inhibit success.
As Benjamin Disraeli said, Action does not always bring happiness;
but there is no happiness without action.

Subject : The Top 5%
"Its a fact that the top 5% of people in any industry make
it a habit to continually search for and learn everything
they can that will sharpen their skills in their particular
field. Seek out the information in your field, and spend
whatever it takes to get it. Become an expert in your
business before you even open the doors. Understand the
pros and cons, and how to spend your time and money in the
most effective way, so you know what to expect, both good
and bad, from every aspect of the career or business you
have chosen.

Subject : Honesty
"I want to remind you that success in life is based on hard
slogging. There will be periods when discouragement is great
and upsetting, and the antidote for this is calmness and
fortitude and a modest yet firm belief in your competence.
Be sure that your priorities are in order so that you can
proceed in a logical manner, and be ever mindful that nothing
will take the place of persistence."
